'Vijay 60': Bharathan snatches Ilayathalapathy's flick away from leading directors
It's confirmed. Vijay's 60th movie will be helmed by none other than Bharathan and he has snatched away Ilayathalapathy's flick from some of the leading Kollywood filmmakers.
As many as eight directors were in the race to bag Vijay's 60th movie. The actor has been cautiously discussing ideas and scripts with various directors. Samuthikirani, Hari, Karthik Subbaraj, Mohan Raja, Prabhu Deva and Sasikumar had approached the actor with their stories.
In the end, it was Bharathan, who walked away with the opportunity to direct Vijay.
The movie will be bankrolled by Vijaya Productions, which had earlier funded Ajith Kumar's "Vedalam". KL Praveen will be the editor of the movie; other details are under wraps.
Editor Praveen has confirmed it on Twitter. He posted, "Yes guys. It is true. Im on board for #Ilayathalapathy #vj60 super excited for the racy script. I thank #vijay sir and #bharathan sir."
However, Vijay opting for Bharathan's film has surprised the industry as he had the option of picking up any project.
It is said that the actor was impressed by the racy story narrated by Bharathan. They had earlier worked in "Azhagiya Tamizh Magan", which also featured Shriya Saran and Namitha in the lead roles. It has to be noted that this movie had failed to click at the box office.
In recent times, stars have shown a preference for young filmmakers. Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan have also opened up to work with inexperienced directors. Even Vijay's "Puli" and his forthcoming untitled movie by Atlee are by budding filmmakers. Hence, this move of Ilayathalapathy does not come as a surprise.
Meanwhile, Vijay is busy with his untitled film. Currently, the film unit is busy shooting in Goa. An action sequence is being shot in which Amy Jackson is also taking part. The "Thuppakki" star will kick-start his 60th movie early next year.

Chennai city is almost washed away and the loss was still not measured as it will reach a record amount ever witnessed by India as per reports. Now the latest from the film field says that Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay had donated rupees 5 crore to the Chennai flood relief fund last day. As per reports Rajinikanth donated rupees 10 lakhs, Raghavendra Lawrence donated 1 cr, Suriya and family donated 25 lakhs and Dhanush donated 5 lakhs and many other like Udayanidhi Stalin, Vishnu Vishal, Vishal, Sidharth, Captain Vijaya Kanth etc are donated and they at Chenai to support the people as well. Donations and support coming from Mollywood as well. Our super stars Mammootty and Mohanlal donated money and food for people along with their family and friends. Manju warrier, Renjith, Suresh Krishna, Jayaram MACTA etc also donating and helping them as they can.
The amounts of donation that we said above was coming through various visual medias and the authenticity of those news are unknown to us. But the fact remains that whatever may the amount, Mollywood and Kollywood had together given a great amount to the funds along with political, cultural and media support for the cause.

This is a special movie for GV Prakash Kumar as it is his landmark 50th movie in his career. The 28-year-old has composed music for most of the leading actors in Kollywood, including Ajith, Vikram, Karthi, Dhanush, etc. Earlier, he had composed music for Vijay starrer movie “Thalaivaa”.
However, there are also reports that the first look of “Vijay 59” will be released in the coming weeks. Currently, the team is busy with the photoshoot and one can expect the posters of Vijay’s next to be released during the Navaratri festival, say reports.
On the other end, the shooting of “Vijay 59” is going on in full swing. The makers want to release the film for Pongal 2016 and things have gone as per their plans till now.
It is an action-packed commercial film, in which Vijay plays the role of a cop. After “Kaththi”, Samantha has paired up with the actor again. Amy Jackson plays the second fiddle in the flick with Prabhu, Radhikaa Sarathkumar, J Mahendran, Kaali Venkat and others playing supporting roles

Although it hasn’t been officially confirmed, the grapevine has been abuzz with news that the film will be directed by Bharathan of Azhagiya Thamizh Magan. The latest news is that editor Praveen will be joining the Vijay 60 team. Praveen recently took to Twitter to thank both Vijay and Bharathan.

The film commenced recently with an auspicious pooja. Being produced by Kalaipuli Thanu for his V Creations, Vijay 59 is directed by Atlee with an ensemble cast of Samantha, Amy Jackson, director Mahendran, Azhagam Perumal and the likes. There is a lot of buzz around Vijay's 59th film, which is being directed by Atlee. While the title of the film has not yet been finalised, the cast and crew are keeping the story line under wraps. However, we hear is that the story maybe inspired from the yesteryear flick Sathriyan.
A source close to the unit says, "Yes, the story is inspired by Sathriyan. Vijay will be seen as a cop in the film. Just like how Atlee's earlier film Raja Rani was inspired by Mouna Raagam, this is inspired by Sathriyan, which was a massive hit. However Atlee will give his own touches to the film."
The other highlight in the film is that veteran actor J Mahendran will be seen playing the villain in the movie. "Unlike the usual villains, he will be seen as a mastermind who is constantly upping his game," the source added.

It looks like superstar Vijay has officially become a member of the ₹100 crore club of Tamil industry. Recent reports state that after "Puli", the actor's next flick "Vijay 59" will be made with a budget of ₹100 crore.
The news was shared by music composer of the movie, GV Prakash. The composer said that the album is a complete package, which consists of an emotional song, a love song and an intro song. He has also confirmed that Vijay has sung two songs for the movie.
We have finished the full album. It will be the most entertaining album as it will give a complete feel. There is an emotional song, a commercial song, a love song, an intro song and everything should be convincing. 'Vijay 59' is a special film as it is my 50th film, it is a hundred crore project and we have all the songs ready before shooting," said GV Prakash to Indiaglitz.
He also added that the audience would get to see Vijay dance for a "thara" local number.
"Everyone's wish is to see Vijay sir dance for a local song and in this film, we have done a world class Thara ticket local song for which Illayathalapathy is going to dance. Deva sir has sung the song and Vijay sir, is also singing two songs," concluded the composer.
"Vijay 59", directed by Atlee, is now one of the most anticpated movies in Tamil. The launch function of the film that was held recently in Chennai had managed to grab the attention of the media and fans.
The upcoming movie's star cast also includes Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Amy Jackson, Prabhu, Mahendran, Azhagam Perumal and Kaali Venkat. The shooting of the film has reportedly been planned for 140 days and will begin by the first week of July.

எல்லோரும் சடாமுடியுடன் இருக்க, விஜய்க்கு மட்டும் பக்காவாக சம்மர் கட்டிங். இப்படியெல்லாம் யாரும் கேட்டுவிடக்கூடாது என்பதற்காகத்தான், இது லாஜிக்கே இல்லாத கற்பனை உலகம் என்று சொல்லிவிட்டார்கள் போலும்! சித்திரக் குள்ளர்கள், பேசும் பறவைகள், பெரும் அரக்கர்கள், மந்திர சக்தி படைத்த ஸ்ரீதேவி என சுவாரஸ்யப்படுத்த எத்தனையோ விஷயங்கள் இருந்தாலும், அவை ஜஸ்ட் லைக் தட் கடந்து போகின்றன. மிகப் பிரமாதமான ஆட்டத்துடன் அறிமுகமாகிறார் விஜய். மருதீரனாகவும் புலிவேந்தனாகவும் அவர் தன் பங்கை முழுமையாகச் செய்திருந்தாலும், அவரை இன்னும் சிறப்பாகக் காட்டியிருக்கலாம் இயக்குநர். ஆனால் புலிவேந்தனாக வரும் விஜய் பாத்திரம், தன் மக்களுக்காக விஷம் குடித்து சாகும் தருணத்தில் நடிப்பு அபாரம். அவரது உதடுகள் கூட நடித்துள்ளன. ஸ்ருதியுடன் ரொமான்ஸ், ஹன்சிகாவுடன் கற்பனையில் ரொமான்ஸ் என அதில் குறை வைக்கவில்லை. ஆனால் அவரது வசன உச்சரிப்பில் ரொம்பவே செயற்கைத்தனம். படம் முழுக்க தடுமாறித் தடுமாறி அவரைப் பேச வைத்திருப்பது என்ன மாதிரி ஸ்டைல் என்பதை சிம்பு தேவன்தான் விளக்க வேண்டும். இரண்டு நாயகிகளுக்கும் பெரிய வேலையில்லை. ஆரம்பத்தில் 25 நிமிடங்களில் ஒரு டூயட் பாடிவிட்டு காணாமல் போகும் ஸ்ருதி, இடைவேளைக்குப் பின் மயக்க நிலையில் படுத்தவர், க்ளைமாக்ஸின் கடைசி நொடியில்தான் எழுகிறார். அவர் வேலை அவ்வளவுதான். விஜய்யை ஒருதலையாகக் காதலித்து இரண்டு பாடல் பாடும் வேடம் ஹன்சிகாவுக்கு. ஆள் அம்சமாக இருக்கிறார்.. ஆனால் மேக்கப் முகத்தில் அடிக்கிறது! சில காட்சிகளில் ஸ்ரீதேவியைப் பார்க்க பயமாக இருக்கிறது. க்ளைமாக்ஸில் விஜய்யுடன் அவர் போடும் வாள்சண்டை பிரமிக்க வைக்கிறது. சுதீப்பை இன்னும் சிறப்பாகப் பயன்படுத்தி இருக்கலாம். எப்போது பார்த்தாலும் அந்த உயரமான நாற்காலில் கோணலாக சாய்ந்தபடி உட்கார்ந்திருக்கிறார். அரை பாடலுக்கு நடனமாடி, இரண்டு சண்டைகள் போட்டு செத்துப் போகிறார். தம்பி ராமய்யாவுக்கு பச்சைத் தவளையை நக்கி வழி கேட்கும் பாத்திரம். பெரிதாக சிரிப்பு வரவில்லை. சத்யனும் அப்படியே. ஆனால் ஒரு காட்சியில் குபீரென சிரிப்பு கிளம்பும்.. படம் முழுக்க விஜய்யுடன் வரும் பேசும் பறவை பாவ விமோசனம் பெற்று எழும்..
